About Fluoride Treatments
There are adults and children who don't follow a good dental care routine and this can cause a lifetime of infections and cavities. To improve weakened or developing teeth, a special fluoride treatment may be given at DentalWorks - Wake Forest by our dentists in Wake Forest, NC to remineralize and strengthen the dental enamel. Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral that is usually added to city water systems. In addition, it is also in many dental care products in small amounts to strengthen the teeth. A professional fluoride treatment at DentalWorks - Wake Forest uses a safe, but strong dose of fluoride to guard the teeth against decay. Fluoride treatments can be administered in three forms (gel, foam, varnish) with two different kinds of fluoride. This includes neutral sodium fluoride for those who have dry mouth and dental work or acidulated phosphate fluoride for normal teeth.
"My husband needed an emergency appointment and they were quick to get us in. They did what needed to be done. The staff is very helpful and understanding. Definitely going back."- F.D. / Yelp / May 25, 2020
"My experience today at Dental Works as a new patient was good. I hadn’t visited a dentist office in years and scheduled an appointment for a dental emergency. Not only did they get me scheduled on the same day, but they also extracted the tooth that was bothering me and helped me get back on track just prior to closing. The front desk staff were friendly and supportive and the dental hygienist and dentist were professional and easy to interact with. I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a dentist."- K.J. / Google / Mar 06, 2020
"I had a lower front tooth break off only to see there was a cavity. I contacted DW and they called me on Friday and made me an appt for the following Monday at 8:00a.m. I got in on time and they were able to fill the tooth on the same day. I was very happy. :)"- L.B. / Google / Mar 03, 2020
"The visit was good, friendly and professional staff. I would like them to ask how you're doing, or are you ok, while performing procedures, not once was l asked that during my cleaning, she did a great job cleaning my teeth, but just to the staff, l think that would be helpful at least for me. Thank you."- J.P. / Google / Mar 02, 2020

What to Expect with Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatments are frequently given every six months after the patient's dental exam and cleaning or as often as our dentists suggest. The clean teeth are dried to prevent watering down the concentration of the fluoride, then the treatment is given to the patient as a gel, foam, or paint-on varnish that is applied for a few minutes. To make fluoride treatments more pleasant, our dentists will usually include a flavor chosen by the patient. Once the fluoride treatment is finished, patients should be certain to spit all fluoride out of their mouth to avoid negative reactions after the fluoride treatment.
Fluoride Treatment Treatment Aftercare
To confirm the fluoride treatment completely treats the teeth, patients should not eat, drink, or smoke for at least half an hour after their fluoride procedure. Consuming any of the fluoride may lead to short-term stomach aches, but this should not last more than a day. While fluoride can be toxic in large amounts, our dentists are careful to give each person an appropriate amount of fluoride during their treatment at DentalWorks - Wake Forest.
